Sergeant Michael Carrier

Sergeant Michael Carrier joined the Hinsdale Police Department in June 2017 where he is currently assigned a Supervisor in the Patrol Division.

In March of 1983, Sergeant Carrier began his career in the Criminal Justice Field with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer, assigned to their criminal investigation division and held a Special State Police Commission.  In September of 1995, Sgt. Carrier relocated to Charleston, SC and worked as a Private Investigator, licensed by the State Law Enforcement Division.  In July of 1992, Sgt. Carrier was hired by the S.C. State Department of Corrections as a Special Investigator II.  Sgt. Carrier returned to the Northeast in February of 1995 and was employed as a Patrolman with the Department of Public Safety at Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA.  In June of 1998, Sgt. Carrier was hired as a Patrolman with the Brattleboro Police Department in Brattleboro Vermont.  While employed with Brattleboro Police, Sgt. Carrier worked as the departments first School Resource Officer (SRO), until being promoted to Detective.  Sgt. Carrier worked as a Detective for 4 years and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, supervising the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and continued to work in the division for 8 more years.  In April 2016 Sgt. Carrier transferred into Patrol as the day shift Patrol Lieutenant until being hired in Hinsdale in June of 2017.  Sgt. Carrier played a significant role in developing Brattleboro’s Child Advocacy Center and served as Chairperson on the CAC’s Board.

Sgt. Carrier holds numerous certifications to include but, not limited to Field Training Officer (FTO), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), School Resource Officer (SRO) Basic, Advanced and Leadership training, Adult and Child Sexual Assault Investigations training, Death Investigations (Level 1 and 2), and Advanced Forensic Interviewing training.

Sgt. Carrier has served the town of Hinsdale in various capacities having previously worked on Hinsdale’s Budget and Capital Improvement Committee’s for three 3-year terms, Hinsdale Lions Club for over 16 years as well as several years as a member of the PTA.
